Super 25 Rankings: Upsets usher in new teams

Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) holds down top spot following another shutout win

The biggest upset in Super 25 action over the weekend took place in California, where Centennial (Corona) knocked off then-No. 8 Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 30-28. The previously unbeaten Broncos weren't the only ranked team to fall, however.

Whitmer (Toledo, Ohio), Bentonville (Ark.) and Camden County (Kingsland, Ga.) — ranked No. 12, 14 and 20, respectively — all lost and fell out of the Super 25.

The top seven teams, led by No. 1 Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.), held their positions. Only two of those teams — No. 4 Bellevue (Wash.) and No. 6 Butler (Matthews, N.C.) — have completed their seasons.

Centennial went from unranked to No. 18 following its upset win over Vista Murrieta and could climb even higher with a win over No. 13 Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.) in the Southern California Open Div. I Bowl on Saturday.

Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.) enters the rankings at No. 23 after defeating Bellarmine Prep (Tacoma) in the 4A state championship. Moeller (Cincinnati) and Norcross (Ga.) enter the rankings at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively. Moeller, which upset Whitmer in the Div. I state championship game, is the only three-loss team in the rankings.
