Superstition of the Week: Jayme Thompson's Bestie Sleepover

From Michael Jordan’s obsession with rocking North Carolina shorts under his Chicago Bulls shorts during games to Serena Williams’ need to bounce the tennis ball five times before her first serve, athletes have long been believers that superstitions give them the added edge they need to get in the zone before games.

Every week we’ll take a look at some of the wackiest superstitions athletes and coaches from around the country implement. This week we caught up with Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio) safety Jayme Thompson, an Ohio State commit.

The Superstition: Bestie Sleepover

The Breakdown: “This is kinda weird, but the night before every game I have my best friend Ian Butler stay over at my house. Every Thursday he comes over all season. It’s just gotta happen. That’s my thing.”

The Why: “Basically he stayed over the night before a game last year and I ended up having one of the best games I’ve ever had. So I get him to come on over and we talk about the game the next day and anything. It works for me.”
