FORT WAYNE, IND. — An Indiana high school basketball standout who’s survived two deadly plane crashes will spend his final year of high school in California.
WPTA-TV reports the Hatch family released a statement Monday saying Austin Hatch is moving to Pasadena, Calif., to stay with relatives and will be attending Los Angeles Loyola High School. Hatch plans to play college basketball next year.
He suffered serious injuries in a 2011 Michigan plane crash that killed his father and stepmother. He also survived a 2003 crash that killed his mother, sister and brother.
Hatch’s father was piloting both planes.
The Hatch family’s statement says Austin continues to make steady improvement from his injuries as he prepares for his final year of high school. Hatch had attended Fort Wayne’s Canterbury High School.
