THE WINNER: Anna Rohrer


School: Mishawaka (Ind.)
Grade: Sophomore
Height: 5-foot-5

Athletic achievement: She raced to a national title at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships this past season, with a time of 17:25. Rohrer also won the individual state championship with a meet-record time of 17:13.2 and captured the Foot Locker Midwest Regional championships in a course-record 16:54. She won her conference, sectional, regional and semi-state championships, and finished first at the New Prairie Invitational, the Northridge Invitational and the Niles Viking Stampede.

Academic excellence: Rohrer has maintained a 4.21 GPA in the classroom.

Exemplary character: Also a talented musician, she has volunteered locally on behalf of area nursing homes and an elementary school drug awareness program.


“What Anna has accomplished this season, her first full season of cross country, is nothing short of astonishing,” said Mishawaka head coach Chris Kowalewski. “She’s a special talent, with an incredible work ethic and attitude.”

THE FUTURE: Rohrer will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
