The Music City Heat enjoyed a strong spring/summer basketball program.
“We had over 100 players in our program this spring/summer,” said John Howard, founder of the Heat. “We are one of the best-kept secrets in the Greater Nashville Area. We had great success this spring/summer playing in the best basketball tournaments in the United States. And we won championships in quite a few. 97 of our players live in the Greater Nashville Area. Other programs cannot say that.”
The Heat went to Knox Vegas Invitational, Chicago Classic, Eddie Ford Classic, Atlanta Chaos Invitational and The Las Vegas FAB 48.
“We just got back on July 28 from taking all 100 kids to Las Vegas to play in two of the largest basketball tournaments in the U.S. (Bigfoot Las Vegas Classic and The FAB 48),” Howard said. “We had two 11th grade teams, three 10th grade teams, two 9th grade teams and two 8th grade teams. Each of our 10 teams placed in the top 24 in the tournament out of over 150 of the best club basketball teams in the nation.
“One of our 9th grade teams led by John Carter (Summit), Kobe Reeves (Hillsboro), Blake Wiggins (Antioch) and Jonathon Howard (Cane Ridge) finished in fourth place in The FAB 48 Invitational Division, which is the highest division.
“And one of our 10th grade teams led by Kenny Cooper (FRA), Thomas Booker (East Nashville), Isaiah Blacksmith, (East Nashville) and Patrick Murphy (MBA) took home the The FAB 48 Diamond Bracket Championship.”
