Legendary NFL quarterback Brett Favre has two daughters. The oldest, Brittany, made him a grandfather in 2010 when she gave birth to son, Parker Brett. His younger daughter, Breleigh, has emerged as one of the top underclass volleyball players in the state of Mississippi.
Breleigh Favre is currently in her third year of varsity volleyball for Oak Grove, the same school in Hattiesburg that Fave helped lead to a football state title in 2013. Favre got her first taste of varsity action when she was still an eighth grader, and has steadily stepped up to take a larger leadership role with Oak Grove, just as Brittany had once done.
According to MaxPreps’ statistics, Favre is averaging 11 aces, an impressive 18 kills and 4 digs per match while leading Oak Grove to a 7-1 district record, 10-6 overall. Those stats are reportedly good for second best on Oak Grove’s roster. Remember: she’s still just a sophomore.
Could another Favre help deliver a second state title in as many years to Oak Grove? Breleigh, who chose to wear number 3 instead of her father’s number 4 jersey, isn’t ruling it out.
“We have a lot of talent on this team, and I think we have a lot of potential to go a long way,” Favre told the Hattiesburg American, a Gannett partner.
Clearly, Breleigh Favre has come a long way. Now she’s making waves of her own, for reasons besides a cameo in her one of her father’s commercials.
