Quarterback

Davis Mattingly, Male, 6-5, 210, Sr.

Passed for 3,152 yards and 27 TDs as a junior, helping offense average 35.6 ppg.

Running back

Michael Nero, Manual, 5-11, 209, Sr.

Rushed for 1,832 yards and 20 TDs last year. Has scholarship offer from Toledo.

Running back

Donald Brooks, Trinity, 5-11, 185, Sr.

Rushed for 896 yards and 15 TDs last year. Several major schools recruiting him.

Wide receiver

Keion Wakefield, Male, 5-9, 165, Jr.

Had 41 catches for 888 yards and 11 TDs last year. Kentucky, Cincinnati have offered.

Wide receiver

Rodjay Burns, Trinity, 6-2, 175 Jr.

Could have breakout year after catching 43 passes for 743 yards and four TDs as sophomore.

Tight end

Tyler Jefferson, Doss, 6-5, 215, Sr.

Caught 27 passes for 372 yards and four TDs last year. Committed to Western Kentucky.

Offensive lineman

Houston Sparkman, Male, 6-1, 280, Sr.

Strong center who benches more than 400 pounds and squats more than 500.

Offensive lineman

Isaiah Arnold, Male, 6-4, 358, Jr.

One of the state’s biggest linemen; was an all-district selection last year.

Offensive lineman

Connor Maloney, Jeffersontown, 6-6, 280, Sr.

All-district selection last year drawing interest from several FBS schools.

Offensive lineman

Matt Bledsoe, DeSales, 6-3, 285, Sr.

Anchored line that produced 2,000-yard rusher and state championship last year.

Offensive lineman

Nathan Scheler, St. Xavier, 6-2, 270, Sr.

Center played all 12 games last season for Tigers, who averaged 28.9 ppg.

Kicker

Blanton Creque, Collins, 5-10, 180, Sr.

Ranked the nation’s No. 19 senior kicker by ChrisSailerKicking.com.

Kick return

Trevor Carnell, Bullitt Central, 5-10, 190, Sr.

Rushed for more than 2,000 yards last season; also returned kickoff for TD vs. Valley.

DEFENSE

Defensive lineman

Bryant Pirtle, DeSales, 6-3, 205, Sr.

Posted 66 tackles last year, including 22½ sacks. Committed to Western Kentucky.

Defensive lineman

Marcus Davis, Male, 6-2, 245, Jr.

Led team in tackles (90½) as a sophomore; interest from several FBS schools.

Defensive lineman

Ty’Ron Horton, Manual, 6-3, 255, Sr.

Had 55 tackles, six fumble recoveries last year. Committed to Western Kentucky.

Defensive lineman

Sean Hammonds, Ballard, 6-3, 235, Sr.

Led Bruins with 12 tackles for loss last year. Committed to Ball State.

Linebacker

Shaun Whittinghill, Moore, 6-4, 225, Sr.

Tallied 88 tackles, including 10½ sacks, and also blocked four punts last season.

Linebacker

Connor John, South Oldham, 6-1, 220, Sr.

Led 2013 team with 113 tackles, including six for loss. Also recovered four fumbles.

Linebacker

Robert Hartley, Bullitt East, 6-2, 195, Sr.

Quarterback of Chargers’ defense posted 80 tackles, two interceptions last year.

Defensive back

Aldwin Jackson, Seneca, 6-1, 180, Sr.

Had seven interceptions, returning three for TDs. Committed to Western Kentucky.

Defensive back

Canon Jackson, Trinity, 6-3, 210, Sr.

Posted 42½ tackles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions as a junior.

Defensive back

Delvon Dunn, Pleasure Ridge Park, 5-10, 190, Sr.

Versatile player also a top-notch running back but anchors Panthers’ secondary.

Defensive back

Kameron Smith, Fern Creek, 5-10, 168, Sr.

Totaled 57 tackles, two interceptions, two sacks, two fumble recoveries for Tigers last year.

Punter

Arien Beasley, North Oldham, 5-10, 190, Sr.

Speedster returned five punts for TDs last season.
