Oh Kingsley Okoroh, how could you?
The answer to that bizarre and unique recruiting question is quite simple: Okoroh was just following the coach he committed to, not the location. As noted by The Big Lead, Okoroh committed to the University of Tennessee and coach Cuonzo Martin on Monday. He seemed excited to make the announcement on his Twitter account.
Just committed to the university of Tennessee! Can’t wait to play in the SEC next year
The issue was that 24 hours later, Martin was no longer coaching at Tennessee. Instead, he had accepted the head coaching position at Cal, replacing Mike Montgomery in Berkeley. Right on cue, Okoroh sent his commitment to the other side of the country.
I announce my commitment to the University of California Berkeley. I’m very excited to be a BEAR !

If anything, Okoroh’s transition to California may be less dramatic than heading to Tennessee. The Westwind Prep star has been competing in Phoenix, right in the middle of Pac-12 country, so he’s been able to see what his future competition will look like.
Most importantly, however, Okoroh was able to make his double-move because he hadn’t signed official papers connecting him to Tennessee. With just a verbal commitment on the line, Okoroh was free to back out of his pledge to the Volunteers and link up with the Bears. Naturally, there was a new fan base eager to greet him there, too.
