COACH OF THE YEAR

Anne Long, Spring Valley (Columbia)
Long won her seventh state championship in a legendary career that spans nearly four decades.  “If I win one state championship or if I win seven, success is just helping people reach their fullest potential and just having those experiences of really knowing what winning is all about,” Long told The State leading up to a 53-46 title win against Goose Creek.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Dejoria Howard, F, Orangeburg-Wilkinson (Orangeburg), 6-1 Sr.
Howard, who signed with Georgia Tech, was the Class AAA Player of the Year. She averaged 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and nearly three assists her senior year and there was no “senior-itis” — those were all career-highs.
