Rainier Beach junior wing Keith Smith has announced a verbal commitment to the University of Oregon.

The six-foot-seven Smith is considered the top recruit in the state for the class of 2016 and just recently reopened his recruitment — he initially committed to San Diego State during Beach’s season. ESPN ranks him as a four-star and the No. 67 overall prospect in the nation.

A story from the Oregonian details Smith’s decision.

Before a season-ending meniscus tear in January, he was averaging 20 points and 11 rebound for the Vikings, who went on to lose the state championship to Garfield.

He transferred to Rainier Beach this year after playing his first two seasons of high school basketball at Franklin. He was a starter as a freshman for the Quakers team that finished fifth in state in 2013.

Smith had offers from a number of other schools including Washington, Washington State, Gonzaga, Cal, and Oregon State.
