These 10 high schools enter Week 9 with 5-3 records, needing a victory Friday night at 7 to earn a spot in the state playoffs:
Michigan Center at Quincy: Michigan Center is attempting to make the playoffs for the seventh time in school history and fifth time since 2009. Quincy is also going for playoff berth No. 7 and is hoping to win its first playoff game ever.
Grandville Calvin Christian at Belding: Playoff spot No. 7 is also the goal of Calvin Christian. Class B state champs in 1997 and ’94 under Irv Sigler, Belding is rebounding from a 1-8 season a year ago.

Saginaw Nouvel at Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart: Five-time state champ Nouvel could qualify in Division 8 with four losses. After starting the season 0-3, the 2010 D-8 champ Irish have won five straight.
Clinton Twp. Chippewa Valley at New Baltimore Anchor Bay: The young Chippewa Valley team is looking for its fifth straight playoff berth. Anchor Bay is hoping for a playoff spot for the seventh time in school history.
Whittemore-Prescott at Pinconning: The 2000 Division 6 state champs at Prescott hope to extend their nine-year run of playoff appearances. Pinconning has its first winning season since 2009, its last playoff appearance.
