A 7-year-old from Georgia who collapsed during a Sept. 8 soccer practice has died, his family announced on Facebook.

Aidan Heath was running drills at the Woodstock YMCA when his grandmother saw him fall to the ground and have what appeared to be a seizure.

He had been hospitalized since the incident and his family said Sunday that doctors determined he was brain dead after running additional tests.

The family posted this on Facebook on Sunday as part of the Prayers for Aiden group.

With extremely heavy hearts and a great deal of sadness to say Aidan has gone home to be with the lord Jesus Christ. The doctors performed the second test this morning and we did not get the results we so badly wanted. Please understand today is a hard day for the family so please be patient with us. We thank you all greatly for all the support and continued prayers. Aidan is a blessing to so many here on earth and is now a major blessing to all above. He will continue to watch after his little brother Jasper and his mother Ashley from a much more powerful place.
