Andre Teague ran for five touchdowns, but it was really a team effort that led host Manual to a 34-28 victory over Pleasure Ridge Park on Friday night.

The Crimsons ran for 368 yards on 63 carries and had three runners each eclipse the 100-yard mark. Teague got 112 yards on 22 tries, while Marcis Floyd (17-116) and John Riley (10-121) also had big games.

While Manual (7-1, 2-1 Class 6-A, District 3) was dominant all night, it really showed in the second half. The Crimsons mounted drives of 93 and 90 yards to break open a game that was tied at 21 going into halftime.

The Panthers (5-4, 1-3), the No. 15 team in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings, got the ball to start the second half and were in position to take the lead. But, with the ball at the Crimsons’ 14, quarterback Bryant Robinson scrambled to his left. As he got inside the 10, the Crimsons’ Will Cissell got his helmet on the ball to force a fumble, which Manual recovered at the 7 with 8:25 left in the third quarter.

Fourteen plays later, all of which were runs, Teague’s 4-yard run put Manual in the lead for good with 1:40 left in the third. The senior’s biggest run of the night may have been his 14-yard jaunt on a fourth-and-4 at the PRP 43 that sustained that drive, allowing him to put the Crimsons in the lead five plays later.

“For us, our backs, our line were huge,” Manual coach Scott Carmony said. “Andre Teague played a monster game. But they’re (all) capable of doing that.”

The Crimsons forced a PRP punt early in the fourth quarter and mounted a 13-play drive to go up 13 (the point-after attempt failed) with 4:06 remaining when Teague ran it from a yard out.

The Panthers cut the lead to six on a 55-yard scoring pass from Robinson to Shannon Bishop with 2:03 remaining. Robinson finished with 210 yards passing and two touchdowns on 13 of 24 attempts, but the junior also had a couple costly interceptions to Manual’s Bryce Cosby.

However, with no timeouts left, PRP tried an onside kick. When it didn’t go 10 yards, Manual took over and ran out the clock.
