Ann Arbor linebacker Antjuan Simmons decommits from Ohio State

Linebacker Antjuan Simmons, who attends Pioneer High across the street from Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, decommitted from Ohio State on Wednesday night.

Simmons had been committed to the Buckeyes since March.

“After talking to my mom and people I’m close to I have decided to re-open my recruiting process,” he tweeted.

Rated a four-star prospect by, he’s listed at 6-feet-1 and 199 pounds. He’s expected to play outside linebacker in college.

Before picking the Buckeyes initially, Simmons also had scholarship offers from Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others.

Last week, Simmons jokingly went to Twitter to mention that he was “the only Buckeye in Ann Arbor” during the week leading up to the annual showdown between Ohio State and Michigan.

Simmons’ Tweet immediately elicited supportive responses from Buckeye fans, some of whom shared in Simmons’ “pain” in living north of the Ohio border.
