Arizona commit Braxton Burmeister set the career record for passing yards in the CIF San Diego section on Friday night, adding to his list of section record.

Burmeister from La Jolla Country Day threw for 224 yards in a 63-3 victory over Francis Parker  (San Diego) to give him 9,164 passing yards. The previous record was held by Grossmont’s Anthony Lawrence (2011-13).

“I looked up some of the top passers down through the years and it’s a cool thing to be mentioned with them,” Burmeister told the San Diego Union Tribune. “I grew up at this school, so we just decided to stay here. I’m trying not to think about all these records, just concentrate on winning.”

Burmeister, ranked as the No. 10 dual threat quarterback in the Class of 2017 by the 247Sports Composite, also owns the section record for total offense with 11,744 and touchdown passes with 103. He is 19 shy of the record for career completions, a mark that could fall in next week’s game against Bishop’s (La Jolla).

La Jolla is 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Coastal League.
