With rumors swirling about the future of coach Mark Helfrich, four-star cornerback Deommodore Lenoir has decommitted from Oregon, he announced on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. Helfrich was fired hours later.
Lenoir, from Bishop Mora Salesian (Los Angeles), is ranked as the No. 10 cornerback in the nation and has showed amazing athletic ability on both sides of the ball in high school.
Lenoir is the highest ranked among the 15 commits in the Class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The potential coaching change was said to not be the only factor in the decision.
He committed in June and took an official visit on Oct. 29.
An Army All-American, Lenoir has 28 reported offers and got an in-home visit from North Carolina over the weekend.
