At last, another glorious Friday.
I’m feeling pretty good about last week, when I went 44-1 against #BeatBrian participants.
Only direction I’ll go this week is up, as I’m aiming to go perfect through this 10-game slate.
Per usual, we’ve got some big games on our hands this week.
Tate meets Niceville in the battle of the unbeatens, as the game is ranked No. 4 in Friday’s top-10 games according to FloridaHSFootball.com
West Florida hosts Gulf Breeze in the PNJ / ESPN Pensacola game of the week.
Each team will carry momentum into that one, as the Jaguars come in off a District 1-5A win and the Dolphins carry over from upsetting the area’s No. 1 team last week.
Catholic and Pensacola High will clash at Gorecki-LeBeau Stadium for a familiar rivalry, while the Pine Forest Eagles will seek to rebound at Milton.
Washington and Jay will be on the road, while Escambia, Pace, Navarre and Northview play host.
Good luck, and stay tuned for #BeatBrian results in Tuesday’s paper (on PNJ.com monday night).
Now, let’s get down to picking:
Tate at Niceville: Both teams are undefeated. Both average at least 30 points-per-game. And I’ve been burned this season for choosing against both of these teams. I see this one as a shootout, barn burner, stampede… whatever you want to call it. Gimme Tate.
Tate over Niceville
Gulf Breeze at West Florida: QB Tyler Phelps and the Dolphins have the strongest passing attack around. DT Vidal Scott and the Jaguars possess the toughest front. Dolphins defenders seem to create turnovers with ease, while West Florida’s balanced offense can be tough to read. This ain’t the game of the week for no reason.

Pensacola High at Catholic: Both teams would love a win here. The Tigers seem to occasionally start slow and bring the heat late. The Crusaders will battle continue to battle injury adversity in front of their home crowd. Watch for the Tigers to secure a road win here.

Lake City Columbia at Escambia: Here you have two teams who have fielded beyond-tough schedules and are likely better than their record states. Last year, the teams combined for more than 80 points as Escambia won by three. I think Columbia snags some revenge this year.
Columbia over Escambia
Washington at Bay: I’m calling this the closest game of the week. I think the Bay Tornadoes defend home and win by three.
Bay over Washington
Crestview at Pace: Pace’s defense will be challenged with an offense averaging 44.8 points each contest. This should be another tight one.
Crestview over Pace
Pine Forest at Milton: Big game for the Eagles as they hope to avoid two-straight losses. Milton has picked up a couple of good wins this season, but I don’t think the Panthers will find one Friday night.
Pine Forest over Milton
Fort Walton Beach at Navarre: Almost any week, you’d have to be foolish to go against the Raiders. I think Navarre picks up its 16th consecutive regular season win tonight.
Navarre over FWB
Jay at Graceville: Graceville’s offense should provide another learning experience for the young Jay Royals. I’ll take the home team.
Graceville over Jay
Northview at Vancleave (Miss.): I see the Northview Chiefs riding a two-game win streak on their way back from Mississippi this week.
