Berkshire (Mass.) boys soccer hands No. 1 St. Benedict's (N.J.) first loss in 36 games

St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.), the No. 1 team in the USA TODAY Sports/National Soccer Coaches Association Super 25, lost for the first time in 36 games Sunday.

The Gray Bees allowed two goals in the final eight minutes and fell 2-1 to The Berkshire School (Sheffield, Mass.) during an event at The Hill School in Pottstown, Pa.

Jeremy Richard and Mo Omar scored the two goals for Berkshire, with one coming in the 72nd minute and the game-winner coming in the final two minutes. Luan Lamas scored for St. Benedict’s.

St. Bendict’s shared last year’s Super 25 national title with St. Ignatius (Cleveland) after posting an unbeaten season. The Gray Bees’ last loss was Sept. 20, 2014.
