ALLYSEN SMITH

BATTLE CREEK CENTRAL

GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING

It’s difficult to single out any member of the Battle Creek Central girls swimming and diving team, which is off to it’s best start in over a decade. But senior Allysen Smith has been a tone-setter for the Bearcats and has displayed value beyond her impressive times.

Smith, a four-year varsity member and team captain, helped Battle Creek Central to victories in back-to-back weekends at the Mason Invitational on Sept. 10 and the Bearcat Invitational on Sept. 17. In each of her last three meets, Smith has posted season-best times in her individual events – including a career-best time in the 100 butterfly (1:09.92) against Loy Norrix on Sept. 13.

KATIE WADE

HARPER CREEK

VOLLEYBALL

The Harper Creek volleyball team is ranked No. 7 in Class B, and senior setter Katie Wade is a big reason why the Beavers are considered among the best teams in the state.

Coming off record-breaking junior season that saw her earn All-State honors while posting the sixth-highest single-season assist total in the state since rally scoring began in 2004, Wade has elevated her play to another level. With teammate and Miss Volleyball candidate Charley Andrews still recovering from an ankle injury to begin the season, Wade made sure Harper Creek didn’t miss a beat by contributing a variety of ways. She currently leads the team in assists (670) and aces (35) and ranks third ind digs (127) and kills (135).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Good things happen for Marshall when Rachel Shoepke is leading the pack.

A 2015 Division 2 state qualifier, Schoepke has led the Redhawks to wins at four invitationals this season – and was the overall winner in each of those races. At the seven-team Leslie Blackhawk Invitational on Sept. 14, the senior broke the tape in 20 minutes, 28 seconds. On Sept. 10, Marshall won the Bath Invitational as Shoepke ran a season-best time of 20:05.
