Tim Cipollini passed for 140 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for a score, but the Roy C. Ketcham High School football team lost to host Scarsdale 48-34 in a Section 1 Class AA playoff qualifier Friday.
Zaahir Woody had 100 yards on eight receptions, including two touchdown catches. Chris Tyler added 63 rushing yards on 10 carries and a touchdown, while Jyaire Stevens contributed with 75 rushing yards. Dom Dockery also recovered a fumble and brought it in for a score.
Scarsdale scored three touchdowns before Ketcham reached the scoreboard. The Indians rallied, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
“We competed very hard. It’s tough when you go into a 21-0 hole, to dig yourself out of it,” said Ketcham coach Bryan Hogan, whose team fell to 1-6. “Our kids competed in an elimination game. I’m proud of their effort. We were missing some more pieces tonight and the kids stepped in and kept fighting, which is all I can ask.”
Somers 35, Beacon 6 — In a Section 1 Class A qualifier, Alex Benson tossed a 50-yard touchdown to Forever Williams for the visiting Bulldogs’ lone score.
