There’s no secret what the blueprint is.

The game plan for the final five games of the season is very clear.

All the Fort Collins High School football team needs to do to find motivation to make the playoffs is take a quick whirl in the time machine to this time last year.

In 2015, the Lambkins started the season 1-4 before dominating Northern Conference foes to the tune of a 5-0 record, conference title and playoff berth.

With that in mind, Fort Collins took the field Friday night for homecoming against Greeley Central knowing what it had to do.

Just win, baby.

The Lambkins did that, rolling 49-26 past Greeley Central to move to 2-4 and 1-0 in the Northern Conference.

CONFERENCE PREVIEW: Fort Collins, Windsor and the Northern Conference

Greeley Central (0-6, 0-1 NC) started fast with a big opening kickoff return and touchdown on the first drive, then Fort Collins took over.

On their first possession, the Lambkins scored on a 41 yard screen from Jonathan Erickson to Jackson Schoor. Next up was a 32 yard screen from Erickson to Lange, who made a nice juke to beat a defender and race to the end zone.

Erickson added a touchdown on a run from 41 yards where he simply out-raced everyone. Greeley Central threatened late in the half, but Micaylon Moore picked off a screen inside the 5 to end the threat.

Schoor caught a 65 yard touchdown early in the third and Antonio Burgos had another later in the quarter as the Lambkins completely blew the game open.

Erickson and Connor McGraw added touchdown runs in the fourth as the game got sloppy, with teams trading touchdowns with the game out of hand.

LOCAL ACTIONPoudre holds on for conference-opening win

Erickson finished a stellar night with 183 passing yards and four touchdowns, with another 134 and two scores on the ground. McGraw finished just shy of 100 rush yards.

Schoor hauled in three catches for 137 yards and two scores, plus a 33-yard rush.

The Lambkins can now put the first checkmark in the five-step process in trying to win a third conference title in a row to book a return to the Class 4A playoffs.
