Here’s a look at some of the top performers in the Lansing area from Friday’s games. This list reflect stats submitted to the LSJ.


NOLAN BIRD, GRAND LEDGE: The junior quarterback threw a key touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to help the Comets fend off East Lansing and capture the CAAC Blue title. Bird completed 18 of 31 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns in Grand Ledge’s 31-28 win.

ANDREW FOX, IONIA: Fox scored the go-ahead touchdown in the final minute to help the Bulldogs to a 41-34 win over McBain. He finished with 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

ZACK KEMP, EATON RAPIDS: The quarterback threw for 294 yards and four touchdowns in the Greyhounds’ win over Leslie.

DAVID LOCHER, DEWITT: Set a school record with a 94-yard touchdown run during the Division 3 No. 5-ranked Panthers’ 48-14 victory over Division 5 No. 2-ranked Menominee. Locher had five carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns.

NICK SEMKE, FOWLERVILLE: The quarterback returned to the lineup to help the Gladiators earn a spot in the postseason. He threw for 194 yards and two scores and ran for 99 yards and a touchdown to help Fowlerville hand Division 4 No. 10-ranked Corunna a second straight loss.

PARKER SMITH, LAKEWOOD: Ran for the game-tying touchdown and winning 2-point conversion with 1:42 remaining to help the Vikings move to 8-0 with a 38-36 win over Charlotte.

DALIS WILLIAMS, OKEMOS: The senior running back rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries in the Chiefs’ win over Eastern.
