Hen Hud wins senior game behind Sinacore shutout; three score two each in Irvington win

With an October 19 deadline looming for all public school games to be played for sectional selection but with a couple of holidays this week, Thursday’s field hockey calendar was pretty packed.

Below are the game recaps.

Horace Greeley 2, John Jay-East Fishkill 0: Nikki Potter and Lauren Rosh scored.

Lauren Neff had an assist.

John Jay goalie Alison Peritz had five saves.

Willa Kuhn stopped two shots for the Quakers.

Irvington 6, Byram Hills 0: The Bulldogs’ magical number was two as Emma DeRose, Elizabeth Segreti and Suzanne Carroll all found the back of the cage twice.

DeRose also had three assists.

Hendrick Hudson 2, Lourdes 0: Seniors played a prominent role during Hen Hud’s Senior Game, including goalie Carole Sinacore who had a 10-save shutout.

Senior captain Sarina Abraham scored off an assist by fellow senior captain Kelsey Byrne to open the scoring in the first half.

Junior Jillian Walsh added the insurance goal with 22:33 left in the second half.

Lourdes goalie Mia Ardovini had three saves.

Hen Hud, whose seniors also include Fiona Jackson, Sara Kearney, Maeve O’Hara and Toni Ann Rosa, led in corners 12-6.

Brewster 2, Ossining 0: Emily Fego and Amber Krisch scored.

Fego and Jacqueline Benvenuto had assists.

Ossining goalie Kylee Texiera had three saves.

Nyack 1, Suffern 1: Arleigh Rodgers tied the score for Nyack off a penalty corner after time expired.

Kim Kaufman scored for Suffern.

Nyack goalie Elizabeth Lavender had seven saves.

Suffern goalie Alyssa Sanchez had six stops.

Mamaroneck 7, White Plains 0: Sophie Brill had a hat trick and Paige Danehy scored twice as the Tigers, who’ll host undefeated Lakeland in a 2:45 p.m. game Saturday, improved to 12-1-1 on the season.

Brigid Knowles and Hannah Hanley also scored.

Elizabeth Brissette had three assists, Knowles two assists and Danehy one assist.

White Plains didn’t have a shot on net but White Plains goalie Jennifer Ortega turned away 23 shots.

North Rockland 4, Pearl River 2: Kerri Gutenberger scored twice and Emma Mavrorasakis and Liz Fox also scored.

Carly Byman and Christina Kelly had assists for the Red Raiders.

Theresa Glynn and Breanne Dolphin scored for the Pirates.

Carmel 1, Yorktown 0: Caitlin Tully scored and keeper Elaina Nacinovich had 10 saves for the shutout.

Gabby Erickson assisted on Tully’s goal.

Yorktown’s Olivia Sanchez had eight saves.

Clarkstown South 3, Pelham 1: The Pelicans held off the now-11-2 Vikings and even led at the half before Annie O’Neil, Colleen Geyer and Danielle Noia each scored in the second half.

Noia and Grace Dempsey both had an assist.

Pelham’s Samantha Cucciniello scored off a penalty corner with Ashlynn Mustafa assisting.

Lindsay McNamara had eight saves for 6-7 Pelham.

Viking Jackie McDonnell had two saves.

Sacred Heart 5, Holy Child 3: Beth Yeager scored twice and Ryan Smith, Olivia Batal and Sydney Gallop once each.

Ellie Manriquez had two assists for Sacred Heart.

Augustina Garate-Griot, Olivia Bonner and Lila Pfohl scored for Holy Child.

Garate-Griot’s and Bonner’s goals came off penalty corners.

Bonner, Molly Mackie and Martina Garate-Griot had assists for Holy Child.

Holy Child’s Charlotte Wertimer had 14 saves.

Julia Herzig had four saves for Sacred Heart.

Fox Lane 5, R.C. Ketcham 1: Caitlin Brown scored twice and added an assist.

Olivia Dey, Kayla Gallagher and Bridget Connors also scored.

Dey and Natlie Bayzk had assists.

Ketcham’s Nikki Mancuso scored with Katie Wall assisting.

Fox goalie Grace Kiernan had eight saves.

Kristen DeSousa had seven saves for Ketcham.

Panas 4, North Salem 1: Danielle Merante had a hat trick and Brianna Viola also scored for the Panthers.

Jessica Reiner scored unassisted for the Tigers.

Olivia Desanto had six saves for North Salem.

Jasmine Rosa had three saves for Panas.

Hastings 2, Sleepy Hollow 1: Julia Berman had a goal and assisted on Anya Van Hoogstraten’s goal.

Molly Furman also had an assist.

Gabby Delmonico scored for the Headless Horsemen.

Sleepy Hollow’s Marisa Fortugno had five saves.

Hannah Sperber stopped three shots for the Hornets.

Mahopac 2, Arlington 2: Kim Shirea and Briana Corace scored for Mahopac.
