Liberty (Henderson, Nev.) quarterback Kenyon Oblad has been voted the Super 25 Top Star for games during the weekend of Sept. 15-17 by readers of USA TODAY High School Sports.
Oblad completed 25 of 37 passes for 262 yards and spread the ball to eight receivers as Liberty downed Desert Pines (Las Vegas) 41-14 under the Thursday Night Lights. He also threw an 18-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-10 early in the game with his team trailing to help his team get rolling and added another TD pass.
With the win, Liberty moved up three spots to No. 21 in the Super 25 Expert Rankings.
“The sky’s the limit for Kenyon,” Liberty coach Rich Muraco told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I envision him as a major Division I quarterback with 20-plus offers when it’s all said and done. He’s really starting to come into his own, with all the starts he has under his belt. The game’s slowing down for him. He’s smart. He makes the right reads.”
Liberty’s next test comes this weekend against No. 12 Centennial (Corona, Calif.).
