Lipscomb Academy senior Rutger Reitmaier began Friday by finding out he was named a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football semifinalist.
He ended the school day by being recognized as a U.S. Army All-American.
“It’s been an exciting day,” said Reitmaier, whose Mustangs host Springfield (5-5) in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs. “I’m excited for (Friday) night. Hopefully, we’ll get the W.”
Reitmaier is one of four finalists for the Class 4A Mr. Football Lineman honor.
Reitmaier, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive tackle and Oregon commitment, was presented with an honorary jersey at a U.S. Army All-American Bowl Presented by American Family Insurance Selection Tour at Lipscomb Academy.
It marked all three schools’ first U.S. Army All-American honor.
“I’ve been looking forward for this for a while,” Reitmaier said. “Obviously, it’s a tremendous honor.
“It’s a blessing to be (an All-American). Hopefully we’ll see many more come from here in the future.”
Reitmaier helped lead Lipscomb Academy (7-2) to a Region 6-4A championship. Reitmaier had 51 tackles, 21.5 for loss and seven sacks in nine games this season.
