The first look at high school football RPI standings has Fort Collins teams on the outside of the playoff picture.
In Class 5A, Poudre (4-2) is closest to reaching the playoffs, sitting 19th with an RPI score of 0.514. Fossil Ridge (4-2) is 20th with a score of 0.511. Rocky Mountain (0-6) is 29th at 0.473.
In Class 4A, defending state champion Windsor (4-2) is 11th with a score of 0.564 and Fort Collins (2-4) is 31st at 0.421.
Resurrection Christian (6-0) is third in Class 2A at 0.639.
The football RPI standings were released for the first time on CHSAANow.com after Week 6 games. The standings will be updated every week the rest of the season.
Sixteen teams make the playoffs in each classification and the seven conference champions receive an automatic berth. The remaining nine at-large playoff slots per class will be awarded based on RPI standings.
Entering Monday’s action, Fort Collins (6-3-2) has the best RPI standing among local 5A teams. The Lambkins are 10th with a score of 0.587. Fossil Ridge (4-7) is 38th at 0.505, Rocky Mountain (1-10) is 48th at 0.440 and Poudre (3-7-1) is 52nd at 0.427.
In 4A, Windsor (6-5) is 44th at 0.480. In 3A, Liberty Common (6-3-1) is 26th at 0.518 and Heritage Christian (5-6) is 56th at 0.435.
Thirty-two teams make the boys soccer playoffs in each classification.
Fossil Ridge (13-1) is still in the No. 1 spot in 5A entering Monday’s action with a score of 0.663. Fort Collins (8-5) is 15th at 0.591, Rocky Mountain (9-5) is 25th at 0.557 and Poudre (1-14) is 56th at 0.415.
In 4A, Windsor (7-7) is 25th at 0.537. In 3A, Resurrection Christian (11-3) ranks 9th at 0.607 and Liberty Common (3-9) is 33rd at 0.511. In 1A, Heritage Christian (10-4) is 9th at 0.605.
In 5A, 4A and 3A, 36 teams qualify for regionals, with 12 advancing to the state tournament. In 2A and 1A, 24 teams make regionals with 12 advancing to the state tournament.
