Los Angeles TV network KTLA and the Riverside Press Enterprise reported that 18-year-old Desean Welch of Victorville died at Riverside University Health System, where he was transported after being struck by a bullet in a shooting at Moreno Valley High School following Rancho Verde’s football game against Perris Citrus Hill. Welch was reportedly not a student at either high school, and the suspected shooter was described as being around 20 years old, which would place him out of the schools’ age bracket as well.

A school district release described the aftermath of the shooting and forced football fans to shelter on campus until the area could be cleared by law enforcement officials.

There has been no announcement about any funeral arrangements for Welch of yet, with detectives continuing to search for the unidentified shooter.
