Matt Dobyns made a grab for another Lincoln Met PGA Championship on Wednesday, shooting a 9-under 62 at Siwanoy Country Club.
The Fresh Meadow head professional is holding a commanding five-shot lead heading into the final round at 12-under. He is the reigning player of the year and looking to become a back-to-back champion. Mill River head professional Jason Caron, who previously worked at the Bronxville club and knows the course better than most in the field, is next in line, following a 5-under 66.
GlenArbor director of golf Rob Labritz carded a 68 for the second day in a row and is third at 6-under 136. Muttuntown’s Christopher Marinaro and Century’s Frank Bensel are in fourth place, seven strokes off the lead.
A total of 72 players survived the cut at 7-over and better.
