Port Huron Northern junior Megan Randolph has plenty of reason to be happy after her weekend at The Meadows at Grand Valley State.
After carding an 85 in her opening round on Friday, Randolph shot a 78 in Saturday’s final round to earn sixth place individually with a total score of 163.
“I was really excited because I struck the ball really well off the tee,” Randolph said.
Randolph also said she was nervous in her first round, but brushed that off in the second round of her first state tournament appearance.
“It was a good experience,” she said. “I was really nervous and overall it was great to get exposure to great competition.”
In the Division 3 tournament Marysville’s Madeline Blum was on fire, shooting an 83 on Saturday for a two-day total of 176.
St. Clair’s Kara Likins carded a second round score of 95, making her two-day total a 188.
Yale’s Libby Huston shot a 100 on Saturday to bring her two-day total to a 195.
Algonac resident Kaity Rittner also is a state champion as she helped Lutheran North to a Division 4 state title with a team score of 666. North blew the competition away as Ladywood was the next closest team with 702.
Rittner also placed highly as an individual, taking eighth place with a 166.
