The Palm Bay product was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week for his performance in a 34-31 Boilermakers win at Illinois on Saturday. He finished with 182 all-purpose yards.

Lankford-Johnson ran for 127 yards, including a touchdown run of 32 yards in the second quarter, caught three passes for 12 more yards and returned a pair of kickoffs for 43 combined yards. He was Purdue’s first freshman of the week since November of 2012. The Boilermakers will host Iowa this Saturday at noon, and the game will be shown on ESPN2.

Lankford-Johnson was a first-team selection to FLORIDA TODAY’s All-Space Coast football team after last season.
