Danville High School has hired Pat O’Neil has its baseball coach.

O’Neil previously coached 10 seasons at Brownsburg, leading the Bulldogs to the Class 4A state championship in 2005. Brownsburg played in three consecutive 4A title games under O’Neil, who was the Indiana High School Baseball Coach of the Year in 2005.

O’Neil has been the pitching coach the past three seasons at Lebanon. He is 333-101 overall as a head coach in 15 seasons, including five years at Fountain Central.

Three of O’Neil’s former players at Brownsburg – Lance Lynn (St. Louis Cardinals), Drew Storen (Seattle Mariners) and Tucker Barnhart (Cincinnati Reds) – are currently playing in the major leagues.

“I am very honored and excited to be named the new head baseball coach at Danville High School,” O’Neil said. “The baseball program is on the cusp of doing some great things, and with outstanding support from the administration, the coaching staff, the parents and the players, we will have a chance to make a positive impact on Warrior baseball and give us the best opportunity for success.”

O’Neil’s hiring is pending school board approval.
