Pawlak tops 800, again



For the fourth consecutive season, Matt Pawlak has captured an 800 series. This time he rolled games of 279, 245, and 279 to finish with an 803 in the Sunday Outcast league at Port Huron Lanes. Pawlak joins a select group of twenty bowlers that have achieved five 800 series in the Port Huron Bowling Association.

Jose Ganhs was the other outstanding bowler of the week as he finished with a 783 series in the Don McIvor Memorial league at Blue Water Bowl. Ganhs tossed a high game of 290 in that series. Leo Anthony also posted a 290 game.

Aleiha Watson led the women with a 617 series at Port Huron Lanes in the Cowboys & Indians league. She was followed by Melissa Legault 610, Alicia Schroeder 609, Olivia Brown 585, Rachel Posey 583, and Laurynn Ball 570.

Top game for the women was shared by Patty Smith and Alicia Schroeder as each rolled 246. Smith got hers in the Wednesday Night league at Colony Bowl. Schroeder’s was in the Friday Nite Misfits at Port Huron Lanes.

Others with strong games included Olivia Brown 238, Jessica Badley (youth league) 225, Melissa Rood 225, Laurynn Ball 221, Aleiha Watson 215, Kristie Lashbrook 213, Melissa Legault 213, Kerri Hauss 212, Angie Allen 206, Lori Schrieber 206, Kimmie Symon 204, Karen Benner 204, Becky Telesz 203, Sharon Severini 203, and Lee Ann Ganhs 200.

Ray LaVere led the rest of the men high series with a 756. Jim Creasor topped 700 three times with 731, 714, and 706. Following LaVere were Jed Johnston 738, Brian Harmon 732, Bill Winn 729, Brad Ashton 728, Mike Bennett 724, Nick Conard 723, Greg Allen 720, Kevin Renno 719, Dylan Jacobs 714, Don Thiede 713, and Paul Lewandowski 712.

Brad Ashton had an outstanding week at Blue Water Bowl, rolling 277 in the Friday Night Wanna Bees and then 279 in the Don McIvor league. Other high games were Ray LaVere 288, John Woolman 279, Jim Creasor 279, Brian Harmon 279, Don Purdy 278, Jed Johnston 275, and Cliff Crawford 270.

Special Mention: 12-year-old Aaron Golubinski was 105 pins over average with a 247 game in the Blue Water Bowl youth league.

In Memory: Deepest sympathies to Paul Collins and all of the friends and family of Linda Collins who passed away this past week. Paul and Linda were so supportive of each other and one of the greatest moments in local bowling history has to be when they won the Joann Lapish Mixed Doubles tournament together in 2012. Linda was so thankful to accomplish that considering how much Joann meant to her.

Upcoming Tournaments: Match Game Singles will be Sunday, October 16 (noon start) at St. Clair River Lanes. There will be a division for bowlers with averages 210 or higher, and another division for bowlers below 210.
