Presentation wins second straight All 'A' state title

For the second straight year Presentation Academy has the top small-school volleyball program in Kentucky.

The Toppers won six straight matches Saturday and beat St. Henry 25-15, 25-22 in the final of the All “A” Classic state tournament held at Louisville’s Optimum Sports Complex.

All “A” events are limited to the smallest 120 high schools in Kentucky, based on enrollment in grades 9-12.

Presentation (16-7) – ranked No. 9 in the state by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association – also won the All “A” title last season, beating Beechwood in the final.

On Saturday, the Toppers cruised through their three pool-play matches, beating Bishop Brossart 25-11, 25-7, Harlan 25-4, 25-5 and Raceland 25-9, 25-7.

In bracket play, Presentation beat Walton-Verona 25-14, 25-16 in the quarterfinals and Kentucky Country Day 25-8, 25-16 in the semifinals before taking care of No. 11-ranked St. Henry in the final.

St. Henry had defeated Presentation earlier this season, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, in the Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

Presentation junior Peyton McClinton was named the MVP of the tournament. Presentation’s Lauren Nunnelly and Jalen Story and KCD’s Sydney Lattis and Lilly Papalia were named to the all-tournament team.
