What’s going on everyone? This is Kenyatta Watson, but you can call me Coach K and this is my first diary entry. I am excited to be the first coach asked to write a diary and talk about the recruiting world and what I think is the best pathway to get recruited.
I have a long history with the game of football. I played in college, and a little bit in the pros. It all started though at Deerfield Beach High School in South Florida. It’s one of Florida’s most prestigious programs and produces great players each year. After high school I played college football at Boston College for four years and then had a short stint in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, unfortunately cut short due to injury.
To date I have helped forty nine kids around the nation receive FBS scholarships, thirteen more have received FCS offers, and an additional eighteen have offers to play at division two or three. I have always been intrigued with how college programs build their teams and it is an amazing thing to see a high school kid who has worked so hard be rewarded with a scholarship offer.
Watching a college team search for prospects and try to find kids is something that has always interested me. There are so many factors they consider when trying to find the kids that they want. Do they fit their specific system and do they resemble the kind of player they want to represent the school. Essentially each player is a representation of the school, so no coach wants to have a kid who is going to be a bad example.
