The Canyon View Falcons continued their Region 12 domination Tuesday with an 8-0 win over Richfield that also saw CV win its second straight region title.
Allie Lloyd bagged a hat trick and Sydnee Evans scored twice for the Falcons. Makayla Mechem, Morgan Haag and Tylee Bulloch each added goals as well.
Haag bumped her team-leading goal tally to nine on Tuesday, while goalkeeper Jessica Hinck recorded her 3A state-leading seventh shutout.
CV has outscored its region opponents 33-0 in six region games this year, but there’s a different feel around the team this year, according to head coach Mark Comstock.
“They seem really business-oriented, which I think is really great especially how we took an early exit from the playoffs latst year,” Comstock said.
Tennis: Desert Hills clinches Region 9 title
Desert Hills finished 5-0 in region play with a win over Snow Canyon Tuesday to give the Thunder the regular-season Region 9 title. Allie Beck won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Abbie Carmack won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Lyndsi Graf and Jocelyn Kennedy won at No. 1 doubles after moving up from the second spot. They won 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Cassidy Kohler and Abbie Houston won 7-6, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Volleyball: Dixie 3, Snow Canyon 1
Dixie took down the defending Region 9 champions in four sets on Tuesday (18-25, 25-11, 25-15, 25-16). Tyler Stilson hit 22 kills and added 11 digs as well. Aspen Bair led the Flyers with 17 digs. Brooklyn Wright provided 39 assists.
Dixie travels to Hurricane on Thursday.
Volleyball: Cedar 3, Hurricane 2
The Lady Reds grabbed their first region win of the year against Hurricane (25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 20-25, 15-11). Cedar plays at Pine View and Hurricane hosts Dixie on Thursday.
Volleyball: Enterprise 3, South Sevier 1
Enterprise rebounded from a first-set loss to beat the Rams on the road (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23). The Wolves have started 5-0 through the first go-around in Region 13 play. They’ll host Delta, who’s in second place in the region, on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Soccer: Snow Canyon 2, Hurricane 1
Ellie Christensen and Jacie Mooring scored for Snow Canyon, which improved to 6-1 in Region 9 play with the win. Mylee Moon scored the lone goal for Hurricane, which dropped to 3-3-1 and hosts Pine View at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Snow Canyon plays at Cedar Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Warriors could potentially clinch the title Thursday if they win and if Desert Hills loses or ties.
Soccer: Pine View 2, Dixie 1
Pine View (2-5, Region 9)went on the road and got its second region win of the year as the Panthers beat Dixie (2-4-1). Whitney Christenson scored for PV and Lindsey Barben scored for Dixie.
PV’s McKenna Plumb took a free kick that bounced off a Flyers player and into the goal for the Panthers. PV travels to Hurricane and Dixie hosts Desert Hills on Thursday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
Soccer: Desert Hills 4, Cedar 0
Desert Hills kept up the chase on region leader Snow Canyon with a four-goal outburst in the first half that downed Cedar. Brooklyn Lott scored twice, Makayla Lewis added the third goal and Kodee Bracken made it 4-0 right before halftime.
The Thunder improved to 4-3 in Region 9 play and face Dixie on the road Thursday, while Cedar hosts Snow Canyon. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
Soccer: Parowan 7, South Sevier 0
Autumn Rogerson scored a hat trick and Taylor Cowen recorded a shutout in goal as the Rams eased past South Sevier. Vanessa Lozano scored twice, and Jessica Bonett and Taylor Robb each added a goal for Parowan.
The Rams are 5-1 in Region 13 and tied for first with Delta. Parowan plays Millard on Thursday at 4 p.m.
