Eager to defend his team’s tournament title from a year ago, Chino Hills senior guard LiAngelo Ball netted 65 points in Chino Hills’ high-scoring win over Foothill (Nev.) Monday night 131-100.
Unlike most opponents the Huskies face, Foothill hung around early, trailing 32-25 after the first quarter and 60-51 after the second. But a barrage of 3-pointers, led by Ball, helped Chino Hills distance themselves in the third quarter for a 96-71 lead. Amazingly, it wasn’t even Ball’s highest-scoring game of the year. He fell short of his season-high of 72 points in a game earlier this season.
The Huskies play their first Open Division bracket game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Rancho Mirage main gym against Franklin (Ore.), while Foothill will play Bell Jeff at 3 p.m. at Xavier Prep for their first round game in the Nike bracket.
