The Fossil Ridge High School boys golf team won a regional title Monday, qualifying as a team for next week’s state tournament.

The SaberCats shot five-over-par as a team, finishing 11 strokes ahead of second-place Heritage at the Class 5A Northern Regional at Saddle Rock Golf Course.

Four Fossil Ridge players finished in the top seven individually. Josh Caridi was third with a round of 73, two strokes behind individual champion Bradley Scalia from Cherokee Trail.

SaberCat teammates Dillon Stewart and Cam Lampe tied for fourth with a 74. Jack Hastings was seventh with a 75.

4A NORTHERN REGIONAL — Windsor’s Cole Krantz finished second at the 4A Northern Regional at Boomerang Golf Course in Broomfield, carding a three-under 69. Krantz finished third in the 4A state tournament last year.

Krantz will be joined at state by Mitchell Rasmuson, who finished 12th at the Northern Regional with a plus-eight round of 80.

FORT COLLINS 7, GREELEY WEST 0 — Six first-half goals boosted the No. 10 Lambkins to 3-1-2 (2-1 Front Range League).


BOYS TENNIS

POUDRE 5, GREELEY WEST 2 — Jordan Rickard-Peisner won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Impalas, and Griff Biggey won in two sets at No. 3 singles. Andrew Dorsch and Daniel Kang won in two sets at No. 1 doubles, Zack Pettofrezzo and John Mrzyn won in two sets at No. 2 doubles, and Thomas Gira and Blake Wilson won in three sets at No. 4 doubles.

FOSSIL RIDGE 5, CHATFIELD 2 — The SaberCats won all four doubles matches in the road victory. Tim Sunset and Charlie Johnson won in three sets at No. 1. Drew Schneider and Evan Diehl swept at No. 2 doubles; Aaron Hargis and Cameron Salz swept at No. 3 doubles; and Brandon Kryzkowski and Tyler Li swept at No. 4 doubles. Fossil Ridge’s lone singles win was at No. 3, with Ahkil Gupta winning 6-0, 6-2.

WINDSOR 7, ERIE 0 — Ellis Johnson (No. 1), Michael Gueswell (No. 2) and Wesley Smith (No. 3) all swept in singles. Max McManigal and Blake Pendleton (No. 1), Andrew Fischer and Kieran Joe (No. 2), Kenneth Blake and Peyton Shewmon (No. 3) and Matt Tyrell and Naiose Wilson (No. 4) all won in two sets in doubles play.
