Cross country roundup: Lourdes' Timm wins Dan Purdy Invitational

Our Lady of Lourdes High School’s Caroline Timm won the 5-kilometer race at the Dan Purdy Invitational in Pawling in 18:18.74.

Other top local finishes included Pawling’s Katelyn Huggard (second, 20:09.61) and Lauren Pecora (sixth, 21:52.87) and Roy C. Ketcham’s Emma Warner (eighth, 23:06.50) and Madison Townsend (10th, 23:16.45). Somers won the overall team title.

Roosevelt’s Trainor places second at Suffern Invitational – Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Sarah Trainor placed second in the Suffern Invitational on Bear Mountain in 18:33.8. Suffern’s Rachel Ludwikowski won the varsity A race in 18:32.3. Red Hook’s Sheena Dwyer-McNulty placed 10th in the Varsity C race in 19:56.2 Marlboro’s Erin Flynn was the top local finisher in the varsity B race, placing 37th in 22:05.6

Arlington’s Loughlin second at Fort Plain Invitational – Arlington’s Riley Loughlin placed second in 18:56.61 as the Admirals placed second for large schools at the Fort Plain Invitational.

John Jay, Haldane place seventh at Queensbury Invitational — John Jay placed seventh for large schools, while Haldane was seventh for small schools at the Queensbury Invitational. Bella Kieser placed 23rd overall for John Jay (20.50.69). Ruby McEwen was 14th overall for the Blue Devils (21:22.40).

Boys cross country

Arlington placed first for large schools at the Fort Plain Invitational at the Fort Plain Sports Complex. Joe Morrison finished second overall with a time of 15:55.79. Teammate Brendan Foley was third (15:59.62) while Colin Waters was fourth (16:25.27).

Lourdes places second at Dan Purdy Invitational – Pawling’s Alex Petruso placed fifth in 17:27.05 at the Dan Purdy Invitational in Pawling. Lourdes placed second as a team to Somers. Other top local finishes included Lourdes’ Luke Della Pietra (eighth, 17:39.61) and Will Whelan (ninth, 17:40.88).

Haldane wins Queensbury Invitational — Nicholas Farrell was fourth overall (17.01.17) for the Blue Devils, who placed first for small schools in team scoring at the Queensbury Invitational. John Jay’s Sean Murray finished fifth overall (16:14.50) in the large school race.

Roosevelt’s Matyas ninth at Suffern Invitational – Roosevelt’s Wyatt Matyas was the top local finisher in the varsity C race, placing ninth in 16:43.1 in the Suffern Invitational at Bear Mountain State Park. In the boys varsity B race, Red Hook’s Jack Hobson was the top local finisher, placing 10th in 16:59.3 In the boys varsity A race, Millbrook’s Chris Estremera was the top local finisher, placing 41st in 17:51.3.
