Roundup: Lourdes volleyball sweeps John Jay

Ceara Giametta had 20 assists as host Our Lady of Lourdes High School’s volleyball team improved to 10-1 with a 25-22, 27-25, 25-22 win over John Jay on Friday.

Vanessa Jacobs had 13 digs for Lourdes. Jessica D’Auria added 13 digs and nine digs.

Skylar Kellam had 13 digs for John Jay (6-7). Cassidy McDonald added eight kills and three blocks. Nicole Nardone had five blocks.

Beacon 3, Carmel 0 – Kajal Kohli had 15 kills, four aces and 12 digs as the host Bulldogs swept the Rams 27-25, 25-7, 25-16.

Briana Demo and Grace Afedlt combined for 29 assists for Beacon (7-7).

Spackenkill 3, Dover 0 – Taylor Gennodie had three kills and three aces in the host Spartans’ 25-7, 25-8, 25-18 win. Nini Sher added 10 kills, six assists, four aces and a block for Spackenkill (11-1).

Ariana Ball had eight assists, one kill, two blocks and three digs for Dover (4-6).

Pawling 3, North Salem 0 – Jaclyn Smith had eight aces, 14 kills, nine digs and 12 assists for visiting Pawling in its 25-15, 25-11, 25-14 victory. Clara Lombardo added three blocks and 18 assists for Pawling (10-0).

Franklin D. Roosevelt 3, New Paltz 0 – Amber Armeno had 10 aces and five digs as the visiting Presidents swept the Huguenots 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.

Elizabeth Miller added five aces, two kills and three digs for Roosevelt. Lourdes Dawson had an ace, four kills and seven digs.

For New Paltz, Kelly Brinkman had seven kills and three aces.

Wallkill 3, Highland 0 – Jillian Brennie had five digs and an ace, while Taylor Farino had two kills, one block and one ace for the Huskies (1-9), but host Wallkill won 25-6, 25-13, 25-9.

Field hockey

Sarah Mahoney scored twice to lift host Arlington to a 2-0 win over Carmel in Freedom Plains.

Tina Lacy had an assist for Arlington (2-4-5). Sophia Fister had two saves.

Red Hook 6, Rhinebeck 1 — Marley Cook scored twice, while Bailey Jordan had one goal and one assist in the semifinal of Rhinebeck’s Andy Bennett Tournament.

Elle Ping scored for the Hawks.

Rondout Valley 0, John Jay 0 — Goalie Lauren Kelly had 10 saves for the visiting Patriots (7-3-3).

Roy C. Ketcham 1, Yorktown 1 – Cailin Divney scored on an assist from Julia McDaniel as the visiting Indians tied the Huskers.

Kristin DeSousa made eight saves for Ketcham.

Onteora 1, Webutuck 0 – Mikayla Milano had six saves, but the host Warriors lost to the Indians.

Girls tennis

Olivia Banks, Emma Henderson and Emily Bautista each won in straight sets as host Beacon defeated Brewster 4-1.

Meera Patel and Melina Cicigline won at first doubles for Beacon.

Late Thursday, Emma Henderson and Emily Bautista each won singles matches in straight sets as Beacon beat Sleepy Hollow 4-1.

Marlboro 5, Ellenville 0 – Emma Messenger, Grace Messenger and Brittany DeSantis each won singles matches in straight sets as the host Iron Dukes swept the Blue Devils.

Michaela Kulpinski and Julie Truncali, and Kaiya Wigton and Maria Tsangarakis won doubles matches in straight sets for Marlboro (8-2).

Spackenkill 5, Highland 0 – Cynthia Ma, Sarah McCall and Rachel Li each won in straight sets as the visiting Spartans swept the Huskies.
