Jeff Kiluba, Colin Sullivan and Liam Gomez each scored, but the Red Hook High School boys soccer team lost to Wallkill 4-3 in penalty kicks in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League semifinals at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park on Tuesday.
“My back four played really well and limited them to not very many shots on goal,” said Red Hook coach Steve Sutton, whose team fell to 8-6-1. “Ryan Hobson made some big saves for us early to keep it 0-0.”
Hobson made six saves for the Raiders.
Wallkill will meet either Spackenkill or Rhinebeck in the MHAL finals on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Roosevelt in Hyde Park. The Spartans and Hawks finished after the Journal went to print.
James I. O’Neill 3, New Paltz 0 — Dan Drewnowski had four saves while Wesley Mize had three, but the Huguenots (6-7-2) lost at home.
Beacon 2, Our Lady of Lourdes 1 — Kyle Davis scored the game-winning goal for the visiting Bulldogs late Monday.
Devin Lambe had a goal and an assist for Beacon (11-5). Matt Wyant added an assist.
Emma Messenger and Grace Messenger of Marlboro High School reached the semifinals of the Section 9 doubles tournament at the Goshen Sports Complex.
The duo defeated Maris Blumenschein and Meg Nielson of Cornwall, 6-2, 6-2, to reach the semis. In the opening round, they defeated Red Hook’s Julia Bemis and Dasha Latvis 6-2, 6-0.
Spackenkill’s Sarah McCall and Cynthia Ma reached the quarterfinals, but were eliminated by Isabelle Goings-Perrot and Riddhi Patel of Newburgh Free Academy.
Teammate Rachel Li reached the singles quarterfinals, but lost to Valley Central’s Kortney McHale, 0-6, 0-6.
Ketcham duo, Pawling singles player qualify for Section 1 tournament — Roy C. Ketcham’s Laura Koob and Eileen Liang defeated Ursuline’s Brittany Sedlak and Katie Mulligan in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1 in the consolation round of the Conference I doubles tournament to qualify for the Section 1 tournament.
Martha Topilnitski of Pawling qualified for the Section 1 tournament, placing third at the Conference III tournament.
Topolnitski reached the semifinals, but lost to Olivia Ashton of Pleasantville, 0-6, 0-6.
