Sacred Heart finishes fourth in Durango Fall Classic

Hammons, Bennett named to all-tournament team

The Sacred Heart Academy volleyball team finished in fourth place out of 63 teams at the prestigious Durango Fall Classic held over the weekend in Las Vegas.

The Valkyries reached Saturday’s semifinals of the championship bracket before falling 22-25, 25-21, 25-14 to Phoenix Xavier Prep. Sacred Heart then fell to Rancho Santa Margarita (California) 26-24, 25-15 in the third-place match.

Assumption won the bronze bracket to finish in 17th place, defeating Los Angeles Marymount 25-16, 25-18 in the final.

Archbishop Mitty of San Jose, California, beat Xavier Prep 25-23, 25-19 in the championship match. Sacred Heart’s Paige Hammons and Lauryn Bennett were named to the all-tournament team.
