Soccer roundup: Arlington's Sanborn wins 100th game



Arlington High School boys soccer coach Craig Sanborn picked up his 100th win as Admirals coach as Arlington defeated Mahopac 3-1 on Tuesday in Freedom Plains.

Tristan Battistoni, Reese Hanson and Dillon Petrillo scored for Arlington (4-4).

Sanborn, who won a state championship at Arlington in 2012, previously coached at Poughkeepsie and Pawling. He became Arlington coach in 2010.

Late Monday, Arlington beat Carmel 3-0 behind goals from Battistoni, Mike Vankiotis and Peter Petrillo.

Franklin D. Roosevelt 1, Saugerties 0 – Ethan Hart scored a golden goal on an assist from Fernando Laureles in the 99th minute – the final minute of the second overtime — as the visiting Presidents shut out the Sawyers.

Ryan Diehl made seven saves for Roosevelt (5-2).

John Jay 3, Carmel 0 – Joe McKenzie, Dylan Tremblay and Matt Howe scored as the host Patriots (4-2) shut out the Rams.

Spackenkill 2, Onteora 0 – Demetrious Maroukis and Nick Genco scored for the visiting Spartans (5-1), who shut out the Indians.

Quinn McGinnis made three saves for Spackenkill.

Red Hook 7, Highland 1 – Hudson Miller and Jason Allen each scored two goals as the host Raiders (5-2) beat the Huskies.

Jeff Kiluba had a goal and two assists for Red Hook. Henry Tynes and David Factor each scored for Red Hook – for Factor, it was his first varsity goal. Francisco Fernandez made three saves.

For Highland, Matthew Valentino scored. Dylan Warren made 15 saves.

Rhinebeck 4, Millbrook 1 – Nakoa Zuger scored twice to lead the visiting Hawks (5-0-1) to a win over the Blazers.

Alex Censi scored for Millbrook (3-4).

Dover 5, John A. Coleman Catholic 3 – Romero Pasquale had two goals to lead the visiting Dragons to a win.

Poughkeepsie 2, New Paltz 0 – Ulises Rojas and Kymoy Ricketts each scored for the visiting Pioneers, who improved to 4-3.

Wesley Mize had four saves for the Huguenots, who fell to 4-2-1.

Pine Plains 3, Webutuck 0 – Christian Aldana scored twice to lift the visiting Bombers (2-5) to a win.

Webutuck (0-7-1) goalie Thomas Stephanopoulos made eight saves.

Rondout Valley 2, Marlboro 1 – Claude Stephens scored the visiting Iron Dukes’ lone goal in a defeat..

Faith Christian Academy 8, Harmony Christian Academy 0 — Andrew Cruz scored three goals, while Dalton Lois scored twice late Monday.

Victoria Banks had two goals as visiting Beacon (6-2) won their sixth straight game, a 2-1 win in Montrose over Hendrick Hudson.
