Camron Abalos threw a touchdown and ran for 104 yards and a score, but it came in a loss as the Spackenkill football team fell to host Liberty High School, 34-21, on Saturday.
Brian Helfman recovered a fumble and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to cap the scoring with 6:25 remaining. Kaiden Otland had five tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery, and Kabongo Barry made 13 tackles.
Spackenkill concludes its regular season at 5-2 and earned the fourth seed in the Section 9 Class B playoffs, which begin next week. The Spartans visit fourth-seeded Marlboro on Friday.
Abalos’ touchdown pass to Joe Arcuri gave the Spartans a 14-13 lead in the second quarter. But Liberty answered with two touchdowns in the third quarter to pull ahead.
