For the encore of the most dramatic win of the season, the Spackenkill High School football team won its homecoming game on Friday.
Following a one-point win over previously undefeated James I. O’Neill last week, the Spartans beat visiting Ellenville 63-12.
“This group expects to win every time they lace it up against any team,” Spackenkill head coach Clinton DeSouza said. “They’re excited to compete and ready to build towards the playoffs.”
Quarterback Camron Abalos had 90 yards through the air and two touchdowns. He also rushed for two touchdowns and accumulated 85 yards on the ground.
Marlon Brooks returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown, while Adam Loughran blocked a punt and brought it in for a score.
“Our defense stepped up and played really well,” DeSouza said. “The special teams played well and we did what we had to do, which was win.”
The Spartans (5-1) will visit Liberty at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.
