Judson (Converse, Texas) is the new No. 25 team. The Rockets, who won six state titles from 1983 to 2002, improved to 4-0 as Mi’Kel Jackson ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-13 defeat of New Braunfels on Friday.
The open spots in the Super 25 were available because two Super 25 teams and defending state champions fell to non-ranked teams. Previous No. 12 Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.) lost 17-6 Friday at South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.) and previous No. 25 De La Salle lost 23-21 to East (Salt Lake City).
The No. 1-ranked team, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), survived an early scare by Kahuku (Honolulu), winning 35-7 Saturday as Gaels quarterback Tate Martell passed for four touchdowns and ran for a touchdown. The Red Raiders of Kahuku (5-1) stayed in the rankings, but dropped from No. 17 to No. 24 after allowing more points than they had given up total, in their first five games.
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) remains No. 2, followed by Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md) and Allen (Texas).
