Coming off a dominant performance in the Pennsylvania 6A football title game, St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia) has moved into the top 10 in the latest Super 25 Computer rankings.
St. Joe’s Prep scored four second-half touchdowns to beat Central Catholic (Pittsburgh), 42-7 behind star running back D’Andre Swift. The Prep moved from No. 18 to No. 6.
None of the top four played last week and remained in place: No. 1 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), No. 3 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and No. 4 Mater Dei (Santa Ana).
Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), Centennial (Corona, Calif.), DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), Prairie Ridge (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and St. Mary’s (Stockton, Calif.) round out the top 10. Each of those teams dropped one spot to make room for St. Joe’s Prep.
DeSoto (Texas), which advanced to the state title game with a dramatic defensive performance, moved from No. 16 to No. 11.
Cass Tech (Detroit), Trinity (Louisville), Camas (Wash.) and East St. Louis (Ill.) round out the top 15.
The next five are University of San Diego, Chandler (Ariz.), The Woodlands (Texas), St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and De La Salle (Concord, Calif.).
The final five begins with newcomer Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) at No. 21 followed by Bingham (South Jordan, Utah), newcomer West Orange-Stark (Orange, Texas), Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) and Salt Lake City East.
