Last week wasn’t nearly as hectic as last week, but there’s still plenty of volleyball content for you all to chew on. Below are links to everything from my column, to my Facebook Live chat, to rankings and player of the week:
What you missed:
What: Even though two starting players went down with injuries at this weekend’s Scarsdale tournament, coaches say the benefits of tournaments significantly outweigh the risks. This column ran in the paper on Monday, Sept. 19.
What: The second installment of regular-season rankings of the season features one new top 10 team and a new No. 1 team in Class AA. This was posted to the blog Sunday and ran in the paper on Monday, Sept. 19.
What: Ursuline senior middle blocker Katie McLoughlin is the second lohud volleyball player of the week this season. This was posted to the blog Sunday and is not in print.
What: My game story from Scarsale’s annual tournament, which was held on Saturday. Eastchester head coach Kathy DePippo won the first tournament of any kind in her 20-year coaching career. This article ran in the paper on Sunday, Sept. 18.
What: In the third edition of my weekly Facebook Live chats on my work account, I discuss some behind-the-scenes details about the 9/11 Alonso feature, why I wrote the volleyball chants and cheers column, how much of a mess the Class AA field is becoming, as well as two bits of personal information. It’s by far the longest chat of the three I’ve done (22 minutes), but hopefully you enjoy it if you’ve got some time to kill. Facebook Live chats will go on every Tuesday night at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted. If you follow my account (not necessarily add me as a friend), you will get a notification when I go live. The chats will usually last between 5-15 minutes, depending on the amount of material I have to discuss.
Coverage plans: Sept. 19-25, 2016
I’ll be tweeting out results and statistics each night and then compiling the information for a results post that night. If I have something going on at night, am covering football (Friday nights), or am off for the night, the post may go up the following morning. Follow me on Twitter for up-to-the-minute information at @Zacchio_LoHud. You can also follow me on Snapchat and Instagram at the same handles for additional content and coverage.
