Cartersville (Ga.) quarterback Trevor Lawrence, ranked as the top player in the Class of 2018, surpassed 10,000 career passing yards as Cartersville (Ga.) downed Woodward and has now led his team to the state semifinals for the third consecutive year.
Lawrence now has 10,147 yards in 42 games since taking over as the starting quarterback five games into his freshman season.
The team is 40-2 over that span since Joey King’s arrival and the decision to start Lawrence.
Cartersville, the defending state AAAA champions, have now won 28 consecutive games (13-0 this season) and face Mary Persons (Forsyth) on Friday.
Lawrence has thrown 114 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in his career while completing nearly 63 percent of his passes.
He already has accepted an invitation to the Army Bowl in January 2018. He has 24 reported offers and has taken unofficial visits to Clemson, Georgia and LSU in the last few months.
