What do you do when a good old fashioned stiff arm isn’t quite sufficient? You take it up a notch and throw down the would-be tackler, mid-run if you have to.
Just as Kyshaun Bryan. The St. Thomas Aquinas star and South Carolina commit took matters into his own hands during the Raiders’ Region 4-7A final matchup against Mater Academy of nearby Hialeah.
On one run in particular, Bryan shoved off a would-be tackler with what started as a stiff arm but transformed into a near wrestling move where he literally tossed aside the Mater defender on a 35-yard scoring run. The touchdown run set the tone for a dominant, 50-10 Aquinas rout, a win which paved the way for the nine-time Florida state champs to reach the state semifinals.
That means there’s more opportunity for Bryan to author staggering runs of genius in the weeks ahead. We all know what he can do, and after watching the game film against Mater, the defenders for Friday’s semifinal foe, Venice, will, too.
