With his team trailing Male 21-7 late in the first half, St. Xavier senior quarterback Desmond Ridder threw up a prayer.

On fourth down with three seconds to go, Ridder dropped back and launched a long pass towards the end zone. As the pass descended towards earth, it was batted down by a Male defensive back right into the awaiting hands of wide receiver Michael Meredith, who stepped into the end zone for a touchdown to the delight of the St. Xavier fans in the stadium.

The hail mary may throw have been the turning point of the game. After the touchdown, St. Xavier went on to score 16 straight points as it came back to win against the Bulldogs.
